DT's Metins are different from the Normal ones, simple as that.
There are duplicated values for them.
The whole DT is handled by quest, source has nothing to do with it, except for the blacksmiths at the 6th floor which spawn and dialog is still handled by quest.

Indeed no extra cpp/h datas are used, as far as i know it's the only valid sash-system around.
Curiosity point: Why don't you like it? I've looked at the code and, formatting aside, there is nothing wrong with it: he just uses the basic functions or writes new ones based off of the basic ones. It's pretty clean if you ask me.
